A while ago we posted Part I of Vox's suggested reading list. The first collection consisted of fun reading.
Part II are books that we suggest reading to understand the Vox Veniae ethos. For many of us, we have been on this community journey for more than seven years. These authors were integral in challenging us, inspiring us and helping us continue to rediscover the essence of the church.
1. A New Kind of Christian - Brian Mclaren
2. Gospel in a Pluralist Society - Leslie Newbigin
3. Irresistible Revolution - Shane Claiborne
4. Exiles - Michael Frost
5. The Forgotten Ways - Alan Hirsch
6. Compassion, Justice and the Christian Life - Robert Lupton

Just for the record, we were Vox before Vox blog started. Barely.
Our Story
Since 2001, Liquid has been an incubating baby
in the marsupial womb of Austin Chinese Church.
The community was birthed for our friends who were interested in Christ
but did not fit into 21st century Western Christian culture.
After half a decade of maturation and development,
a church was ready to birth.
On September 10th, 2006 at 5:59pm Vox Veniae was born.
Some men see things as they are and ask why
I dream of things that never were and ask why not
- George Bernard Shaw
We dream of grace to make Austin a more grace filled city
We dream of grace to care for those of us in need
We dream of grace imposed in the face of social injustice
We dream of grace expressed through art and music
We dream of grace unleashed through our talents and passions
We dream of grace to be a part of Christ's death and resurrection
We dream of grace to be redeemed from our destructive human condition
We dream of grace to live in the way of Christ
We dream of grace permeating friendships, marriages and families
We dream of experiencing grace through
racial, cultural and socio-economic diversity
We dream of experiencing grace through the greater global church
We dream of grace to hear & become the voice of Jesus.
